Daryl Hall of Fifth Third Bank honored at 20thannual CRA & Fair Lending Colloquium

Wolters Kluwer today named Daryl Hall, compliance officer at Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the honoree of its Alfredo deHaas Excellence in Analytics award. The award, which recognizes a banking professional who “excels in leveraging data to demonstrate his or her institution’s commitment to regulatory compliance,” was presented at the company’s 20th annual CRA & Fair Lending Colloquium, held this week in Las Vegas.

Named after longtime Community Reinvestment Act analyst Alfredo deHaas of MUFG Union Bank, N.A. in San Francisco, the award is meant “to trumpet the ‘unsung heroes’ who embody Alfredo's passion and spirit for championing the creative and thoughtful use of data.”

Hall was selected by a committee of veteran compliance professionals from the banking industry for his professionalism and commitment to excellence in data analytics. The committee highlighted his passion for transforming large sets of data from its raw form into manageable and meaningful pieces for consumption by all levels of the bank.

“Daryl has a tremendous passion for helping people understand how compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act impacts both our bank and the communities we serve,” said Byna Elliott, senior vice president & acting director of Community & Economic Development, Fifth Third Bank. “Through his unique ability to generate a results-oriented message surrounding our data analytics, Daryl provides a shining example of how data can be used to provide critical insights and improve overall business performance and profitability.”

“Alfredo consistently demonstrated a passion for fulfilling regulatory compliance obligations and better serving customers through the thoughtful analysis of data, and we are thrilled to honor these same qualities in Daryl,” said Timothy R. Burniston, executive vice president, U.S. Advisory Services and Regulatory Relations. “My colleagues and I had tremendous respect for Alfredo, and it is a great pleasure to recognize Daryl’s dedication to data analytics through this award.”
