  • Wolters Kluwer’s Barbara Boehler to Speak at NSCP Compliance Conference

    April 13, 2016

Will address growing role of compliance profession in business

Wolters Kluwer today announced that Barbara Boehler, a regulatory compliance consultant and securities subject matter expert, will speak on the growing role of the compliance officer as part of a National Society of Compliance Professionals regional conference, “Juggling Compliance Risks--Maintaining the Balance.” The NSCP event will be held 8:30-5:30 EST Tuesday, May 17 at the AMA New York Executive Conference Center in New York City.

“Today’s increasingly complex regulatory environment across a number of industries and businesses calls for a heightened need for sound, high-level compliance expertise,” says Boehler, who teaches compliance-related matters as an adjunct professor at Suffolk University Law School and Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School in Boston. “There is growing recognition that compliance cannot exist as a stand-alone function, but instead must be an integral part of an organization in helping effectively manage its regulatory compliance challenges.”

Boehler joined Wolters Kluwer in 2015 with 15 years’ experience in the financial services sector, where she had developed, monitored and assessed both broker-dealer and investment advisor firms’ ethics and compliance programs. She formerly served as global chief compliance officer for Arete Research, a limited-purpose, FINRA-registered broker/dealer specializing in equity research. Before that, she held compliance leadership roles at Fidelity Investments, JP Morgan Invest, Standish Mellon Asset Management, and Babson Capital Management.

Boehler’s presentation is part of NSCP conference sessions that offer compliance professionals a variety of sessions related to current trends in technology, cybersecurity, risk management and business continuity. Current industry best practices will be discussed to assist compliance professionals in enhancing their compliance program in these areas.
